Feeding our homebound neighbors, even for a short time due to a surgery/illness or long term, is just part of our mission. We also make sure those we serve have some social interaction. We do a safety check, five days a week, even on holidays. And provide the meals even if they are unable to pay for them. We provide five hot, nutritious meals a week, plus one frozen meal to help get through the weekend.
We receive no federal funding, and we rely on local contributions to help us provide over 32,000 meals this year alone, up from 29,661 in 2021 and 27,389 in 2020. We do this with a team of over 215 volunteers who use their own vehicles and pay the cost of gas to give back to the community on Hilton Head Island, Bluffton, and Sun City.
